Anouck MICHEL

“I've always been attracted to art and drawing. I was able to pick up the pencil again at the age of 42 thanks to my teacher Isabel Maîna, a sketchbook artist and animal draughtswoman, with whom I also took part in numerous lquick sketch and travel diary, outdoors, in museums and zoos.

Between 2016 and 2019, I put my professional career as a hospital civil servant on hold to enter the Emile COHL school in Lyon. For 3 years, I was able to discover various artistic techniques, hone my skills and confirm my preferred method: live drawing with felt pens and coloring with watercolors. This technique gives off a certain spontaneity and a sensitive vibrancy that moves me.

I was able to draw portraits of residents at a nursing home in Isère, and I repeated the experience this summer at the nursing home of la Douix (Châtillon-sur-Seine). In 30 minutes, you have to get to the heart of the matter, something happens because I'm face to face with the person, we look at each other, we talk or not, it's brief but ultimately intense, and you can feel this special moment in the drawing.

I particularly like watercolors and inks, their transparency and vibration. However, for the l'Art de vie exhibition, I wanted to propose portraits in oil, so that I could work in the same method as Mariia, and so that our proposals would respond to each other. So this will be a first for me, a challenge for this beginner artist that I am after all.”
